What is StockDock?

StockDock is a curated stock media library specializing in authentic Caribbean photography and videography. Every image and video is geo-tagged to a specific location across St. Croix, St. Thomas, and St. John in the US Virgin Islands. You can browse by location, category, or keyword — and license high-resolution originals for commercial or editorial use.

Do I need an account to browse?

Accepted Answer

No. You can browse the full archive, view watermarked previews, and explore location pages without creating an account. An account is only required when you're ready to purchase and download a file.

What file formats and resolutions are available?

Photos are available as full-resolution JPEG or TIFF files, typically 20–50 MP depending on the camera used. Videos are available as MP4 (H.264 or H.265) at 4K or higher. The exact resolution and format for each product is listed on its product page.

How do I search for specific content?

Use the search bar on the Stock Archive page to filter by keyword, location, or category. You can also browse by location using the interactive map, or filter by category using the pill bar at the top of the archive. Combining filters narrows results further.

What license do I get when I purchase a file?

Accepted Answer

Each purchase grants you a royalty-free license for commercial and editorial use. You may use the file in digital and print projects, advertising, websites, social media, film, and broadcast. You may not resell, redistribute, or sublicense the original file itself. Full license terms are available at checkout.

How do I download my purchased files?

Accepted Answer

After a successful purchase you'll receive a confirmation email with a secure download link. You can also access all your purchases at any time from your account under My Orders. Download links are valid for 30 days and can be re-sent from your account page.

Can I use StockDock content for AI training datasets?

Accepted Answer

No. Use of StockDock content for training, fine-tuning, or evaluating artificial intelligence or machine learning models is explicitly prohibited under our license terms.

What if I need an extended or exclusive license?

How do I become a contributor?

Contributors are invited by the StockDock team. If you're a photographer or videographer based in or regularly shooting the US Virgin Islands, reach out at hello@stockdock.net with a link to your portfolio. We review all applications and will follow up within 5–7 business days.

What are the technical requirements for submissions?

Photos must be a minimum of 12 megapixels (4K resolution or higher strongly preferred). Videos must be 4K minimum at 24fps or higher. Files must be uncompressed or minimally compressed originals — no social media exports. Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, TIFF for photos; MP4 or MOV for video.

What is the correct file-name convention?

File names must follow this pattern: Location-Description-Contributor.ext — for example, Magens-Bay-Aerial-Sunrise-JSmith.jpg. Use hyphens (not spaces or underscores), capitalize each word, and include your contributor initials at the end. Submissions with incorrect naming will be returned for revision.

When do I need to include a model or location release?

A model release is required any time an identifiable person appears in your content — even in the background. A location release is required for any private property (homes, private estates, commercial interiors). Both must be uploaded as PDF files alongside your submission. Public spaces, government buildings, and national parks do not require a location release.

How does the review process work?

After you submit, your file and any release documents are securely stored and queued for admin review. You'll see the status update in your Contributor Portal. If approved, the content is ingested into the archive and you'll start earning royalties on each sale. If revisions are needed, you'll see specific feedback in your portal and can resubmit.

How are royalties calculated and paid?

Contributors earn a percentage of each sale of their approved content. Royalty rates and payment schedules are outlined in your contributor agreement. You can track your earnings, sales count, and download count in real time from the Contributor Portal.

How do I reset my password?

Accepted Answer

Click 'Forgot password' on the login page and enter your email address. You'll receive a reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive. If you continue to have trouble, contact hello@stockdock.net.

What payment methods are accepted?

Accepted Answer

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your card details.

Can I get a refund?

Because digital files are delivered immediately upon purchase, refunds are not available once a download has been initiated. If you experience a technical issue with your download, contact hello@stockdock.net within 7 days and we'll resolve it.
